Man was struck while walking on U.S. 331 in Walton County.
A Niceville man was killed Friday night while walking on U.S. 331 in Walton County.
According to a press release from Florida Highway Patrol, the 43-year-old Niceville man was walking in the outside southbound lane of U.S. 331 at the time of the 8:40 p.m. fatal collision. The man's identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
In the release, FHP noted that as the man was walking on the highway, he was approached from behind and struck by the right front of a 2013 BMW X5 driven by Robert Thomas, 60, of Mountain Brook, Alabama. The accident occurred just north of Carol Drive.
Alcohol test results are pending for the man who was pronounced dead at the scene by Walton County Fire Rescue.
FHP noted the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
