The 17th battalion of the armed force arrested the men while they were trying to commit the crime and seized eight Geckos from the duo. The duo belong to a gang that is known for smuggling wild animals.

Border force personnel were able to nab the duo in a joint operation of Bannerhat police and the forest department. The eight Geckos seized are estimated to be valued at Rs. 6.40 crores in the international market.
According to the information department of the armed forces, the smugglers have been arrested and the seized Geckos have been handed over to the wildlife squad.

Sources said that 148 Geckos were seized and 65 smugglers arrested in 47 operations in this year alone.
