After a 10-day layoff for the Christmas holiday break, the nationally ranked UAFS men’s basketball team will return to action on Saturday when the Lions play the University of Arkansas-Monticello Boll Weevils at Steelman Fieldhouse in Monticello.
Tipoff will be 4 p.m. Live statistics and live stream will be available.
It will be the first game for the Lions since Tuesday, Dec. 19, when they lost 87-73 to NCAA Division I Colorado State in an exhibition game at Moby Arena in Fort Collins, Colo. It also will be the Lions’ final game of the 2017 portion of the schedule.
After Saturday’s game against UAM, UAFS won’t return to action until Thursday, Jan. 4, when it resumes Heartland Conference play against Oklahoma Christian at the Eagles Nest in Oklahoma City.
UAFS (12-0) is ranked No. 4 in the latest D2SIDA Top 25 — the Lions also are No. 1 in the D2SIDA South Central Region Poll — and is ranked No. 9 in the latest NABC Division II Top 25.
UAM (7-2) has won two games in a row and is coming off a 72-56 win at Delta State on Saturday, Dec. 9, in Cleveland, Miss. The Boll Weevils’ losses have been against Southern Nazarene and Southeastern Oklahoma State.
