The Pine Bluff Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. partnered with the Salvation Army for the annual Red Kettle/Bell Ringing campaign and sponsored an activity called Delta Love for Families.

The chapter along with members of our youth programs (Delta Academy, Delta GEMS, and the Distinguished Gentlemen) rang the bells and sang Christmas carols on Saturday, Dec. 9 at Wal-Mart. The chapter rang the bells from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in support of the annual campaign.

The second activity began in November and ended on Friday, December 15 when gifts were presented to Salvation Army. The chapter was divided into teams named after Santa’s reindeers - Team: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen, and Rudolph. Team Captains were: Dana Mooney and Stephanie Brown, Carolyn E. Williams and Marikka Bender, Princella Gardner and Shelia Brown, Zedralyn Butler and Andrea Humphrey-Johnson, Myrtle Withers and Connie Jackson, Phyllis Cage and Vickie Hicks, Nicole Anderson and Virgirean Owens, Tina Owens and Cathryn Laurent, and Donna Barnes and Kim Williams.

Each team selected a name from the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree with the name and age of a child and his or her requests. Through the generosity of team members, the teams then purchased a variety of gifts based on those requests.
