HEAVY snow fell in York and across North Yorkshire yesterday, bringing treacherous driving conditions to the region.

The snow arrived in York in the morning and continued to fall into the afternoon. It was originally expected to stop at 11am.

The severe weather led to a number of crashes on the region’s roads yesterday.

Police received a report of a collision between three vehicles on Water Lane in York shortly after 11am.

A police spokeswoman said: “No injuries were sustained.”

In addition, police were called to a serious collision on Range Road in Catterick at 9.55am. It involved a white Citroen Van and a Daihatsu Terios, the spokeswoman said. The road was closed while police conducted an investigation.
