BATHINDA: A Moga youth ended his life on Friday after being allegedly harassed by the family members of his fiancee. The youth shot himself in his temple with his licenced .32 bore revolver.

According to information, Jatinder Kumar (23), an air conditioner mechanic had an altercation with his fiancee Payal's family allegedly over the transfer of the New Town house he was living in with his mother Sunita Devi since his father Surinder Kumar's death.

In a complaint filed with the police, the deceased's brother-in-law Sanjiv Kumar alleged that Payal's father Raj Kumar and mother Sushma Devi wanted either the house to be transferred in Payal's name or the family be given Rs 10 lakh, which was not acceptable to the victim.

Sanjiv alleged that Payal's family had refused to solemnize the marriage till their demand was met. He said, "Jatinder was under depression due to the dispute and had an altercation with Payal's family. He was also not happy about his would-be bride working in a private firm. He ended his life on Friday at his residence by shooting himself."

Moga (City) DSP Kesar Singh, who supervised the incident spot, said, "As per complaint filed by Jatinder's relative, his fiancee Payal was demanding house or money and were harassing him. A case under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) has been registered against Payal, her father Raj Kumar and mother Sushma and we are trying to arrest them."
