Two to three militants stormed a CRPF training Centre at Lethpora in South Kashmir in the wee hours of Sunday. The militants hurled grenades and opened fire to enter the training centre. One CRPF personnel was martyred while two others have been injured in the ensuing exchange of fire.

“Fidayeen managed to enter Lethpora camp at 0210 hours. As per report two of our men got injured during initial intrusion from J&K Police Commando training area side. There is quite a possibility of a similar type of attack on other camps also,” says CRPF.

CRPF officials added that intermittent firing was on and three personnel had sustained bullet injuries. The attack on the 185th battalion camp of the paramilitary force comes just days after a cross-LoC action in which the Indian Army killed three Pakistani Army soldiers. The area has been cordoned off and a search operation is underway by the CRPF.

The attack began at 2:00 am on Sunday morning. (Source: ANI)

The attack comes on the heels of the killing of a top Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) ‘commander’, Noor Mohammad Tantray, who was killed in an encounter in Samboora village in Pulwama district of South Kashmir earlier on Tuesday. As the JeM’s ‘divisional commander’ in South Kashmir, he was reported to have played an instrumental role in reviving the outfit.

This is a developing story. More details are awaited.
