Police seek suspect in road rage incident on Route 202

Chadds Ford >> In what police are terming road rage, a black-colored Smart car pulled in front of another vehicle driven south on Route 202 last week, and then stopped at the traffic light at Marshall Road. State Police at the Media barracks said two men then got of the Smart car and approached to victim’s car, with one man jumping on the hood and the other smashing the rear windshield. Police identified the victim as a 60-year-old man from West Chester and described the suspects as two black males in their 20s.

Indecent exposure >> Alonso Rodriguez, 20, was arrested for indecent exposure on Dec. 4 after he masturbated in the parking lot of WalMart on Schoolhouse Road in East Marlborough in front of an employee.

Criminal Mischief >> Police said multiple BB pellets were shot through two windows at a house located at 101 McBerty Court, New London Township sometime on Dec. 22.

Assaykt >> Christian Herrera, 23, of East Marlborough Township, punched a 50-year-old man in the back of the head during an alcohol-fueled argument, shortly before 8 p.m. on Dec. 22 in the 500 block of Schoolhouse Road. The victim refused medical treatment, police said.

Driving too fast >> Jennifer A. Crossan, 38, of Kennett Square, was cited for her involvement in a traffic accident on Dec. 16, police said. Crossan was driving east on Route 1, approaching Bayard Road in East Marlborough Township. She tried stopping at the traffic light but was moving too fast for the weather and road conditions and entered the intersection in the path of a vehicle turning left onto Route 1 and was struck. Responders from Longwood Fire Co. transported Crossan to Chester County Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Following too Closely >> Armando Lemus, 33, of Coatesville was cited for following too closely after rear-ending another vehicle on Doe Run Road on Dec. 4. Modena EMS personnel took the other driver to Paoli Hospital for treatment.

DUI >> A Kennett Square man was cited for driving under the influence after running off Newark Road in West Marlborough Township at 6:49 p.m. on Dec. 19. Police identified the driver as 77-year-old Kenneth S. Roberts, of Kennett Square.

Parkesburg

Burglary >> On Dec. 15, police responded to a reported burglary discovered to a local business in the 600 block of West Main Street. After the investigation, police have charged Justin L. Case with burglary, theft and related offenses.

Bad check >> Police investigating bad checks being passed at a local business in Highland Township charged John Amen, Great Valley Landscaping, with passing a bad check for $5,000 to Arbor Glen Nurseries in Coatesville.

Southern Chester County Regional

DUI >> Jerisha S. Pernsley, 23, of Coatesville was arrested on suspicion of DUI and related traffic offenses, as well as for violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device, and Cosmetic Act. The incident occurred on Dec. 19 at 7:50 p.m., in the 700 block of West Cypress Street, in New Garden Township.

Drug charges >> Jessica E. Lanzi, 24, of Claymont, Del. was arrested and charged with violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device, and Cosmetic Act, after she was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and related drug paraphernalia. The incident occurred on Dec. 19 at 10:18 p.m., at Harmony Park, 280 West Harmony Road, in West Grove Borough. Police on patrol came upon a vehicle parked in the parking lot of Harmony Park, at a time of night that the park was closed by local ordinance.

Dui >> Florence P. Kolodi, 57, of Newark, Del. was arrested and charged with DUI and a traffic offense, after the Chevrolet SUV she was operating was stopped for an equipment violation. The incident occurred on Dec. 22 at 3:06 p.m., in the area of Newark Road and Church Street, in New Garden Township. Police stopped the vehicle for a missing rear brake light assembly. Upon making contact with Kolodi, police observed indicators suggesting intoxication. After failing field sobriety tests, Kolodi was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI.

DUI >> Robert V. Crew III, 52, of Landenberg was arrested and charged with DUI and a traffic offense, after the Jeep he was driving was stopped for not displaying a registration plate. The incident occurred on Dec. 23 at 1:52 a.m., in the 100 block of Newark Road, in New Garden Township. Upon making contact with crew, police observed numerous indicators suggesting intoxication. After failing field sobriety tests, crew was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI. He submitted to a chemical test of his breath, resulting in a B.A.C. of .155 percent.

Drug charges >> Isael Tapia, 27, of Avondale was arrested and charged with violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device, and Cosmetic Act , along with several traffic offenses, after the Nissan sedan he was driving was stopped for erratic driving. The incident occurred on Dec. 24 at 8:47 a.m., in the 1600 block of Baltimore Pike, in New Garden Township. Upon making contact with Tapia, police detected the odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle and observed a glass pipe containing suspected marijuana on the dashboard.

Criminal Mischief >> Stephen Van Veen, 21, of Landenberg was arrested on Nov. 26 and charged with criminal trespass, criminal mischief, harassment, and public drunkenness. At 2:38 a.m., police were dispatched to the 100 block of Hamilton Road, in New Garden Township for a report of a disturbance. The dispatch advised that a subject was punching and kicking the front door of a residence and that he had subsequently gained entry. Upon arrival, police made contact with the subject, Van Veen, who was on the front porch.

State Police, Embreeville

Burglary >> Police are investigating a burglary which occurred at a residence in the 1600 block of Newlin Township sometime between Dec. 12 and Dec. 22. Entry was gained into the building by force.

Drug charges >> A 33-year-old-man from Coatesville was arrested on drug charges after police found marijuana in his Subaru Outback following a traffic stop on Nov. 25 at 12:52 p.m. on westbound Route 30 in East Caln Township. He was arrested for DUI.

Burglary >> On Dec. 18 at 4:59 a.m., police said someone spray-painted the rear security camera of Clean Cut Services Car Wash in Honey Brook and cut metal locks on four automatic pay stations. The person or persons stole $400 cash out of the pay stations and fled in an unknown direction. Police have no suspects.

Fraud >> An 88-year-old woman from 2067 Bodine Road, Charlestown Township, received a phone call from someone identifying himself as a neighbor and requested funds to secure his release from prison. The victim then provided the funds.

Attempted burglary >> Police said someone attempted to steal an enclosed trailer at Burkholder Manufacturing of Honey Brook on Dec. 11 at 1:30 a.m. The person attempted to cut the coupler lock off the trailer but was unsuccessful and fled. Video surveillance captured a picture of the person’s truck. The truck is a dark-colored Ford pickup truck with light paint patches on the doors and on the bed of the truck. The truck appeared to have a ladder rack with wooden sides. Anyone with information on this crime is urged to call police at 610-486-6280.

Criminal trespass >> Police cited a 14-year-old male and a 15-year-old male, both of Kennett Square for criminal trespass on Dec. 8 at 5 p.m. after they were seen on private property in the 100 block of West State Street after being told they were not permitted on the property.

Car Stolen >> Police received the report that sometime on Dec. 9 or Dec. 10, a Chevrolet Cruz bearing PA registration JHX9296 was stolen from the 300 block South Union Street. The vehicle was recovered, but was found wrecked in the 1000 block Kaolin Road.

Car theft >> Police received the report that on Dec. 10, a vehicle parked in the 100 of block Race Street had its window broken. Taken from the vehicle were two purses, $50 in cash, several IDs and debit cards.

Public Drunkenness >> On Dec. 15 at 2:24 a.m., police cited Heather Weigner, 37, of Kennett Square, for public drunkenness after receiving a report of an unconscious female on the sidewalk in the 100 block of West State Street. She was released at her residence.
