CRESTVIEW – A Christmas Day fight between brothers over politics led to the arrest of a 46-year-old Mossy Head man.
Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the home the victim shares with his mother. The brother who was arrested was visiting for the day, according to his OCSO arrest report.
During the argument, the suspect got up and walked toward the back door. The victim placed his hands on his brother’s back, trying to get him to leave the house.
That’s when the suspect punched the victim in the neck, knocking him to the floor and rendering him unconscious, according to his arrest report.
The suspect told deputies that he’d reacted to his brother placing his hands on his back, but that he knew his brother had not intended to harm him. He also said he knew hitting his brother was wrong.
He was charged with battery.
