New Delhi, Dec 30: To protest against the ill-treatment meted out to the mother and the wife of death row convict Kulbhushan Jadhav, who is lodged in a Pakistani jail, Delhi BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga on Friday ordered footwear online and gave the address of the Pakistan High Commission for its delivery.
“Pakistan wants our slippers. Let’s give them slippers. I have ordered slippers and sent to Pakistan High Commission,” Bagga tweeted. The BJP leader also launched an online campaign ‘Juta Bhejo Pakistan‘, requesting people to send slippers to Pakistan. “I request everyone to Order 1 Pair Slipper for Pakistan. After ordering Slippers tweet your order’s screenshot with #JutaBhejoPakistan.”
“Over a hundred people sent footwear to Pakistan High Commission within a few hours after I did it,” he claimed.
Earlier, Externa Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had condemned the ill-treatment of Kulbhushan Jadhav’s mother and wife in Pakistan saying Kulbhushan Jadhav was forced to see his mother and wife as widows as their bindis and mangalsutras were forcefully taken away by the Pakistani officials before the meeting. “I spoke to her she told me that as soon as she reached, Kulbhushan asked her ‘Baba kaise hain’ (How is father) because he thought a mishap has taken place when he wasn’t around,” Swaraj had said.
On December 25, Kulbhushan Jadhav’s mother and wife visited Pakistan and were forced to remove their mangalsutra, bindi, bangles and footwear by the Pakistani authorities before they were allowed to meet Jadhav through a glass shield. The Pakistani officials even made them change their entire attire including shoes.
