Thakur accorded warm welcome at New Delhi

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur was accorded a warm welcome by the staff of Himachal Bhawan on his arrival at New Delhi on Friday. They congratulated him on assuming the office of Chief Minister and wished him a successful tenure. Later, while talking to the people who were present on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that he was grateful to the people of the state for reposing their faith and bringing the party to power. He said that he would work sincerely for the welfare of the state and fulfilling the aspirations of the people.

Srow given additional charges

Chandigarh: Haryana’s Information, Public Relations and Languages Department’s Director and Special Secretary Sameer Pal Srow has been given the additional charge of Haryana Tourism’s director and special secretary besides Haryana Tourism Development Corporation Limited’s managing directorship relieving Maheshwar Sharma of the said charges with immediate effect. Srow is also holding the charge of Art and Cultural Affairs Department’s Director and Special Secretary.

Paul conferred with doctorate degree in advertising

Chandigarh: Delhi Advertising Club’s former president and Paul Media Services’ chief executive HS Paul was conferred with a Doctorate Degree in Advertising Management recently by Victoria Global University at the 12th Countrywide Impact Award and Convocation. The Doctorate was conferred in recognition of his contribution to the print media and advertising industry and has been instrumental in exploring potentials of Jammu and Kashmir market among all categories of advertisers throughout the country. Paul has made a name for himself, and is not only a favourite among publishers associated with him but also finds favour among publishers of competitive publications. Since 1989, Paul is working as a Regional Head (North India) and Delhi Bureau Chief for Daily Excelsior – J&K’s largest circulated English daily.

Over 1000 drivers to be examined for road safety

Jalandhar: The second edition of ‘Travel Safe’ would be held in Jalandhar in which over 1,000 drivers will be examined for their eyes to ensure road safety. Starting from December 31, the drivers will be examined for free eye check-up services under CEAT’s Netranjali programme for next 10 days. It will also include an inspection of more than 700 vehicles. Some of major areas covered under the initiative for the second session are CT Group of Institute in Jalandhar, Vehra Infrastructure in Kartarpur, Mahilpur Truck Union in Mahilpur and many more. Netranjali programme will include extensive eye check-ups for drivers, free distribution of spectacles and referral to hospitals for treatment.

BSNL organises consumer awareness workshop

Chandigarh: A Consumer Education Workshop was organized by BSNL Chandigarh Telecom District in Telephone Exchange Building, Sector-34, Chandigarh under the chairmanship of Principal General Manager Telecom District Chandigarh JS Sahota. On the occasion, General Manager Telecom addressed the customers and gave details about customer grievance redressal   mechanism in BSNL. The consumers were also briefed about the Telecom Consumer Complaints Redressal Regulation, 2012, and Telecom Consumers’ Protection Regulation, 2012, and the mechanism used for its implementation was explained in detail. The workshop was attended by about 20 customers who submitted their valuable suggestions.

Bar Council gives licenses to newly-recruited advocates

Chandigarh: Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana created a new record by giving 5,154 licenses to new advocates during 2017. In the previous years, record of the Bar Council was highest in 2010 of issuance of 4,902 license in the whole year. Justice Ritu Bahri, Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, distributed the enrollment certificates after administering oath ceremony to the newly-enrolled advocates. Wishing successes in practice, she advised the new entrants to lay stress on paralegal justice delivery system and create awakening amongst the needy section of society particularly the women and widows about their rights and legal aid being provided by the state.

OYO unveils digitised guest registration app

Chandigarh: OYO has built and transferred a digitised guest registration app for hotels to the Haryana Government, making the State first in the country to adopt this technology. Launched on the occasion of ‘Good Governance Day’, the solution will enable seamless and real-time transfer of information related to hotel check-ins, as required under the law, while ensuring data is managed securely and safely. OYO’s founder CEO Ritesh Agarwal said: “Digitizing the process and creating a software that simply and safely transfers guest information to the relevant authorities will take the hassle out of this important compliance measure.
