The Notre Dame boys basketball team shot it's way into title contention Friday night at the Plano Christmas Classic.
Led by a combined 32 points from Noah Reynolds and Connor Dillon, the 10th-seeded Irish pulled off their fourth win in four days with a 46-34 victory over LaSalle-Peru in the tournament semifinals.
The Irish, who shot 54 percent (19-for-35) from the floor against the Cavaliers, will face top-seeded Burlington Central for the title at 8 p.m. Saturday.
Reynolds led all scorers with 19 points on 7-of-8 shooting to guide the Irish effort. Dillon, who finished with 13 points, grabbed a team-high five rebounds.
AT WILLIAMSVILLE
PEORIA QUEST 33, DEE-MACK 32: The Gators will play for the tournament title after knocking off the top-seeded Chiefs in the first of two semifinals at the Williamsville Tournament. Up four with a quarter to play, the Gators were able to withstand 1-for-5 foul shooting and a late Deer Creek-Mackinaw rally to secure the victory.
"We just battled to the end," said Quest coach Michael Jenkins, whose team will face the host Bullets at 7 p.m. Saturday for the title.
"We made some mistakes but fought through and really showed maturity late in battling adveristy."
Avierre Ross scored 11 points to lead a balanced scoring attack for Quest. Neil and Levi Scheuermann each scored nine points to pace the Chiefs.
AT MACOMB
ILLINI BLUFFS 53, MACOMB 47: A strong start helped send the Tigers into the semifinal round of the Macomb-Western Holiday Tournament. Paced by 18 points from Cam Scott and 12 from Brock Bower-Preece, the fourth-seeded Tigers took a 14-8 lead after a quarter and never looked back. Illini Bluffs will face top-seeded West Hancock at 2:30 p.m. Saturday for a shot at the title game.
Carter Fayhee had a game-high 25 points for the host Bombers.
ABINGDON-AVON 40, FARMINGTON 33: The second-seeded Farmers suffered their first setback of the season in the first of four quarterfinal games at Western Hall. Leading 12-11 after a quarter, Farmington was outscored 25-11 in the middle period and could never recover in being dropped to the tournament's fifth-place bracket. Jaden Rutledge scored 11 points to lead the Farmers.
CANTON 46, LEWISTOWN 35: Garrett Brant scored a game-high 15 points as the Little Giants edged out the Indians for a spot in the consolation semifinals.
ROCKRIDGE 45, EUREKA 29: The Hornets went 1-for-15 on 3-point attempts and managed just 11 first-half points in the consolation quarterfinal loss.
AT PONTIAC
PLAINFIELD NORTH 55, MANUAL 54: The Rams led 37-34 after three quarters but failed to hang on as the Tigers handed Manual its second loss in two days. Rolando Brown had 19 points to lead the Rams, who got 15 more from Quincy Broadway.
AT BLOOMINGTON/NORMAL
ROCK ISLAND 60, METAMORA 53 (OT): After rallying from a seven-point, fourth-quarter deficit to force overtime, the Redbirds were outpaced 13-6 in the extra period as the Rocks took the seventh-place contest in the large-school bracket. Collin Dietz had 17 points for Metamora.
ROCKTON-HONONEGAH 48, METAMORA 46: The Redbirds outscored the Indians 31-19 in the second half, but it wasn't enough as the Indians were able to make a 14-point halftime advantage stand in Metamora's first game of the day. Dietz had 16 points to pace the Redbirds.
OLYMPIA 63, PEORIA CHRISTIAN 59: Mason Marquis had 24 points with Blake Stine chipping in 18 as the Spartans held on late to win the consolation seventh-place game in the event's small-school bracket. Will Pepper had 19 points for the Chargers.
AT TAYLORVILLE
GALESBURG 49, DUNLAP 43: The Streaks came on strong late with a 19-12 push down the stretch to claim the tournament's third-place trophy. Kellian Thomas led all scorers with 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting for the Eagles. Khali Hodge had 16 points on 4-of-9 shooting and three 3-pointers to lead Galesburg.
ROCHESTER 52, IVC 47: The Grey Ghosts led 24-20 at intermission before a 13-5 push by the Rockets turned the tide in the tournament's fifth-place contest. Kaiden Truninger had 12 points for IVC.
ELSEWHERE: Thomas Wallace scored 17 points for Dunlap in a 69-55 semifinal loss to Taylorville, which led 22-14 after a quarter. ... IVC overcame an early deficit to defeat Rantoul 61-56 and reach the fifth-place game. Kaiden Truninger had a game-high 22 for IVC in the win. ... Sterling defeated Taylorville, 65-55, to win the championship.
