Lucknow, Dec 30: At least 51 girls were rescued after a joint team conducted raids at a Madrasa in Shahadatganj in Lucknow. The manager of the Madrasa was arrested after all the girls accused him of sexually assaulting and beating them in a written complaint.
The girls said that they were forced to dance on vulgar songs in the Madrasa. An FIR has been registered against the manager and the police are investigating if the Madrasa was registered or not.
The Lucknow police conducted raids at the Madrasa after the girls made a written complaint to the police about the sexual exploitation at the Islamic educational institution. Although 125 girls studied at the Madrasa, only 51 girls were present at the time of the raids.
An investigation has been launched in the sexual exploitation at Shahadatganj Madrasa case. The matter has been reported to the Child Welfare Committee and the statements of the girls have been recorded by the police.
Deepak Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Lucknow, said that the police took an immediate action against the manager of the Madrasa after receiving a complaint from the girls.
“We found 51 students who were held hostage in the madrasa. The culprit is arrested… He used to molest those students and also beat them,” he said.
