TAMPA — Police say they have arrested the man who walked into a Wells Fargo bank at 1770 North 50th Street on Friday and handed a letter to the teller demanding money.
Tampa police said Saturday that they arrested Robert D. Moore, 33, at his home at 3403 Garrison Street.
How they came to arrest the man also known as "Billy Cheery" is unclear. The news release sent out by the Tampa Police Department says only that "during the investigation, detectives obtained evidence that led them to" Moore.
The robbery happened about 10 a.m. on Friday. Moore didn’t display a firearm, simply deploying his demand letter as the way to get cash.
He apparently didn’t get much. When police arrested him about 4:45 p.m., they charged him with robbery less than $300. He was also charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He remained in jail Saturday, pending a $17,500 bond.
