Five metro area banks were robbed or dealt with robbery attempts over four days earlier this week, the FBI is reporting.

The rash of crimes began just after 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 22 when a man entered the US Bank branch at 8401 E. Belleview Ave. in southeast Denver and demanded money. Its not clear what happened next, but the suspect ran away from the bank without any cash, according to an FBI news release.

Later that day, two men armed with handguns robbed the TCF Bank at 1710 S. Havana St. in Aurora, making off with an unknown amount of cash.

Robbers visited three metro area banks on Tuesday, Dec. 26 — the JP Morgan Chase at 1038 E. Sixth Ave. in Denver, the TCF branch inside the King Soopers store at 7901 S. Broadway in Littleton and the Bank of the West at 7575 W. 44th Ave. in Wheat Ridge. In each case, lone male suspects walked into the bank, verbally demanded money from employees, then fled on foot with undisclosed sums, according to the FBI.

It is unclear if any of the crimes are related. Suspect descriptions indicate the robberies and the attempted robbery were committed by different men. Only in the Aurora TCF robbery did the suspects display weapons.
