The six-player men’s singles tournament is held each year in Abu Dhabi but is not recognised by the ATP World Tour.

However, it regularly attracts some of the world’s top players with Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic both scheduled to play there this year.

But the Spanish world No 1 and defending WTC champion had to pull out with a knee injury that has also ruled him out of the Brisbane International, his usual warm-up tournament for January’s Australian Open.

It means Djokovic and Austria's Dominic Thiem are the top two seeds who receive byes straight into the semi-finals.

Coverage on Thursday December 28, Friday December 29 and Saturday December 30 starts at 1pm UK time.
