Market Now: BSE Smallcap index hits fresh record high
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 36 were trading up.
NEW DELHI: The S&P BSE Smallcap index hit a fresh record high of 19,254 in Friday's trade.

The BSE Smallcap index was trading 0.70 per cent up at 19,244 around 10:45 am (IST), with shares of Fineotex Chemical (up 14.76 per cent), Jaiprakash Power Ventures (up 14.23 per cent) and Housing Development & Infrastructure (up 10.41 per cent) zooming over 10 per cent.

Stocks such as Jaypee Infratech (up 9.97 per cent), D B Realty (up 9.91 per cent), Flexituff International (up 9.52 per cent), Gujarat NRE Coke (up 9.15 per cent), Dredging Corporation of India (up 9.13 per cent) and Tata Metaliks (up 9.04 per cent) surged over 9 per centi nthe smallcap index.

However, Infibeam Incorporation (down 23 per cent), Bombay Rayon Fashions (down 5 per cent), Ricoh India (down 5 per cent), High Ground Enterprise (down 5 per cent), Seamec (down 5 per cent), Morepen Laboratories (down 4 per cent) and Adlabs Entertainment (down 3.41 per cent) were experiencing the heat of seeling in the smallcap space around that time.

Benchmark BSE Sensex was 145 points up at 33,993, while the NSE Nifty50 index was 35 points up at 10,513.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 36 were trading in the green, while 14 were in the red.

Asian Paints, Axis Bank, Hero MotoCorp, Sun Pharma and Tata Consultancy Services were trading among the gainers in the Sensex index.
