Mumbai: Fire breaks out at Kamala Mills Compound, 15 dead

 

Mumbai: Nearly 15 people died after an immense fire broke out at a Kamala Mills Compound building in the Lower Parel area of Mumbai on Friday.

As per the reports by civic officials, the incident takes the lives of several people. Many others were wounded in the tragedy and were taken to the King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital and the Sion Hospital for treatment.

All the victims lost their lives because of suffocation, doctors stated.

‘Postmortem discloses that nearly 15 died because of suffocation,’ Dr Rajesh Dere affirmed.

As per civic official, the fire occurred on the third floor of the four-storeyed building on Thursday night.  The building is situated in Central Mumbai area.

After the fire, few fire brigades and ambulances reached to the spot to douse the flames.

Case has been lodged against restaurant ‘1 Above’ where the blaze started from. The complaint has been lodged under setion 304 of the IPC.

“The smoke was crazy, people screaming, ‘Get out!,” a observer, Jamal Flicker stated. “I heard a woman yelling, ‘We’re trapped, help!” he added.
