Like Texas' weather, fashion is all about change - and 2017 was a banner year.

We lost a few greats. In January, Mary Tyler Moore, who shaped the American working woman's style with a single hat toss, died at age 80. Then in November, designer Azzedine Alaia died in Paris at age 82. The gifted "king of cling" was known for dressing strong women from Grace Jones to Michelle Obama.

We gained a runway beauty in Kaia Gerber, daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford, who walked in her first New York Fashion Week show for Calvin Klein.

We also made strides in representing real women (with real figures), from model Ashley Graham to actress Leslie Jones, and real women of color, from Rihanna's beauty line to British Vogue's stunning December cover.
