Live Updates

In news that has put a number of Premier League clubs on alert, former Chelsea and Newcastle striker Loic Remy has been put up for sale after falling out with Las Palmas manager Paco Jemez.

The France international is wanted by clubs in China and France, but he favours a return to England and with a number of clubs in desperate need of a striker, a move back to the Premier League could be on the cards.

Sam Allardyce has admitted that Everton are interested in Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun in January.

Talk yesterday suggested a £25m deal had been agreed and Allardyce added fuel to the fire in his press conference this morning.

Asked about his interest he said: “Him and many others. We need a front man if we can find one. We will be actively looking for a front man in this window.

“I need more goals in the side than what we have at the moment.

“If we are to just maintain our position because we have started to struggle to create chances and score goals in recent matches.

“It is still one of the major problems that we have.”

Michael Keane believes Sam Allardyce's overhaul of the team training methods has both improved performance and stimulated confidence at Everton.

The ninth-placed Toffees are riding a seven Premier League game unbeaten run with former England boss Allardyce easing them out of the lower half of the table since taking over from Ronald Koeman who was sacked last month.

And summer signing Keane has been impressed with the impact the new boss has made.

Carlos Carvalhal has pledged not to buy Swansea out of trouble after being appointed manager until the end of the season.

Carvalhal left Sheffied Wednesday by mutual consent on Christmas Eve after two and a half years at Hillsborough, in which he twice took the Owls into the Championship play-offs.

Swansea have been looking for a new manager ever since sacking Paul Clement on 20 December with the team rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table.

Arsene Wenger insists there has been no dressing room fall-out with Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal.

Sanchez scored twice at Crystal Palace and Wenger was faced with questions over Arsenal's players showing an apparent lack of desire to celebrate his goals.

Wenger, though, went into familiar mode when asked whether there was a fracture in the camp.

Claude Puel believes Virgil van Dijk can grow into the best defender in the world following his record £75m move to Liverpool.

The now Leicester boss had Van Dijk as his skipper at Southampton last season as the Saints fought to keep the centre-back.

He finally became the world's most expensive defender on Wednesday, with Liverpool having pulled out of a £50million move in the summer after Southampton complained to the Premier League about an alleged illegal approach from the Reds.

Leicester head to Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday, with Van Dijk officially joining Liverpool when the transfer window opens on January 1.

Atlético Madrid have assured their fans that Antoine Griezmannwill not leave the team during the winter transfer window, following rumours that he could move to either Barcelona or Manchester United.

Jurgen Klopp has told Liverpool fans to forget about Virgil van Dijk's world record transfer fee.

The Dutchman will join the Reds on January 1 after an agreement was finally reached with Southampton after protracted negotiations.

The £75m price tag eclipses the £53m Manchester City paid Tottenham for Kyle Walker in the summer making the Van Dijk the most expensive defender in history.

But manager Klopp says the first thing Liverpool supporters should do is put that record-breaking outlay to the back of their minds.

Arsene Wenger confirmed that long-awaited contract talks with Jack Wilshere will take place in early January following the England midfielder’s recently improved form.

While Wenger initially said the talks would take place in December, they have now been scheduled for early January, as Arsenal and Wilshere try to reach an agreement over a new contract.

His current deal has only six months left and Wenger wants Wilshere to agree to a differently structured deal for next season and beyond.

Mauricio Pellegrino hopes to sign at least two new players with the money banked from the £75m sale of Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool.

Details here:

Juventus have no intention of selling Paulo Dybala to Manchester United or anyone else in January, and privately have made suitors aware that any negotiations for the Argentina international would need to start north of €150m (£140m).

United have been linked with a £60m move for Dybala this week, since when Jose Mourinho has come out and insisted that his club must spend more to catch up with cross-town rivals Manchester City.

But the reports were met with widespread derision in Turin, where there is agreement that Dybala won’t be leaving the club any time soon - and certainly not for such a low fee.

Stoke manager Mark Hughes has just been asked about his interest in Danny Ings.

"I think there are a lot of conversations about a lot of players in regards to taking players on a permanent deal," he said.

"There are always loan deals that can be done as there are players that are frustrated with their lack of game time.

"They see the January to summer period as an opportunity to play more games than at any other given time.

"We are well aware of the players that are available but nothing definite as of yet."

Also on David Moyes' radar at West Ham is Stoke and Wales midfielder Joe Allen, according to the Mirror.

The 27-year-old's versatility in midfield is attractive to Moyes as he looks to rebuild his side in the January transfer window, the paper reports, though it remains to be seen whether Swansea will reignite their interest in the player after losing out in the summer.

Marouane Fellaini is uncertain if he will extend his stay at Manchester United but the midfielder believes manager Jose Mourinho will respect his decision if he chooses to end his spell at Old Trafford.

Fellaini came under fire for his inconsistent performances after signing from Everton in 2013 but the Belgian international has since become an important player in Mourinho's squad.

United triggered a one-year extension in the 30-year-old's contract at the start of the year, but agreeing a deal beyond the end of the current campaign is proving difficult.

Arsene Wenger conceded Alexis Sanchez's future remains uncertain after the forward again excelled in Arsenal's 3-2 victory at Crystal Palace.

Asked of Sanchez, who has long interested league leaders Manchester City, the 68-year-old Wenger responded: "Nobody knows what will happen. It's difficult to speculate.

"We are focused on short term, that means the next game with the players committed and ready to fight. It's not a guarantee of how long you stay somewhere. As long as you are somewhere, you give your best.

"They are questioned, always, when people don't have long contracts. The best way to show they are committed is to give that kind of performance. Jack is coming back in competitive shape. He gives something to the team, and gave a good final ball for the third goal.

"At 3-2 it became nervy again, and it finished in a less controlled way, but it was a good team performance."

As David Moyes looks to strengthen West Ham, Borussia Dortmund forward Andre Schurrle appears to be a key target for the January transfer window, the Guardian says.

Along with bringing back Reece Oxford from a season-long loan at Borussia Monchengladbach, Schurrle could help the Hammers in defence on a short-term loan, the paper reports.

Barcelona midfielder Paulinho has said that he has made contact with Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho over a potential summer transfer.

The Reds resisted all attempts from Barcelona to prise the Brazilian away from Anfield this summer with the club releasing an official statement to rebuff any further interest from Catalunya.

But the man himself has refused to rule out leaving and admitted at his interest in Barca's offer during the summer window.

West Bromwich Albion have made Liverpool’s Danny Ings one of their top targets for January as Alan Pardew tries to save his side from relegation.

The Baggies are yet to win under Pardew and the former Crystal Palace manager believes they need more goals in the team if they are to have a chance of survival.

Ings was a target of Pardew’s at Palace and he has reignited that interest, setting sporting director Nicky Hammond to work on a deal for the former Burnley man that would likely begin as a loan.

Let's take a look around today's papers, shall we?

Southampton are looking to bring Theo Walcott back to the South East following the sale of Virgil van Dijk, the Mirror says.

The club have reportedly expressed an interest with Arsenal in a bid to secure a loan or transfer deal for the £140,000-a-week forward in January.

It comes on the back of the sale of Van Dijk to Liverpool for £75 million, but the Saints may need to look elsewhere to spend their cash with Everton and West Ham also said to be interested in the 28-year-old.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge could be swapping places with former team-mate Virgil van Dijk, with Southampton also said to be interested in bringing the striker to St Mary's in a loan deal until the end of the season.

The Telegraph reports that Southampton are looking to bolster their attacking positions and with Sturridge finding it difficult to make the starting XI at Liverpool, he could be tempted by Mauricio Pellegrino's apparent offer.

Everton are hoping to bring Cenk Tosun to the Premier League for £25 million, the Mirror claims.

Following the departure of Romelu Lukaku, the Toffees have struggled to find a suitable replacement, but Sam Allardyce appears hopeful the Besiktas forward could be his first signing as new boss at Goodison Park.
