Punjab Government has extended up to January 31, 2018, the time-limit for powers delegated to the drawing and disbursing officers (DDOs) for disposing of cases of ACP or confirmation of probation period pertaining to employees of the Education Department. Earlier, the deadline was October 31, 2017.
The decision has been taken as per the directions of the state Education Minister Aruna Chaudhary, said a spokesperson of the Education Department.
Spokesperson said that the decision has been arrived at owing to the pending cases of ACP as well as issuance of confirmation letters to those completing their probation.
The Department has instructed all DDOs, including School Heads, Block Education Officers and District Education Officers, to ensure the speedy disposal of the pending cases till January 31, 2018, said the spokesperson adding that if any case is found pending after January 31, onus would be on concerned DDOs.
Spokesperson said that the Education Minister, while giving major relief to the departmental employees, had delegated the powers pertaining to the issuance of confirmation letters on completion of probation period and regarding ACP cases at the subordinate level as the large number of departmental cadre was causing undue implications to the employees.
“These powers were given to the school heads concerned of the teachers and the concerned Block Education Officers and District Education Officers of the employees so as to ensure the disposal of cases with regard to the employees speedily at the lower level itself. Earlier, the cases were disposed at the headquarters,” said the spokesperson.
