Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) general secretary Dr Surendra Jain on Thursday demanded a CBI inquiry into the Swami Lakshmanananda Saraswati murder case at Dharingbadi of Kandhamal district in 2008.
Jain told a Press meet here that due to the State Government’s ineptness, the culprits of the case who would have been behind the bars are still roaming scot-free even after 10 years.
He also alleged about the long history of conversion of Hindus by the Christian missionaries under compulsion and enticement.
Jain pointed that the State Government had formed the Panigrahi Commission for probe into the Kandhamal violent incidents, but before their reports were out, Swamiji was assassinated openly in the presence of innocent children and security forces.
He said for further investigation, the case was handed over to the CBI just for formalities, but after public retribution, the Naidu Commission was set up to probe the case. However, after the passage of 10 long years, the culprits are still free and have grown stronger, he said.
Jain said Hindus in Odisha, particularly the tribal communities, are living under the shadow of terror. He demanded to stop the double benefits of the converted tribal Christians who have been taking both benefits of both castes.
The VHP also demanded that the Government withdraw the false cases imposed on Hindus and make the reports of Panigrahi and Naidu Commissions open to all.
Among others, VHP East Odisha working president Badrinath Patnaik and advisor Swami Jiban Muktanandaji were present.
