PEORIA — Who is in goal?
Or who is left, in goal, for the Peoria Rivermen?
The SPHL team lost veteran goaltender Eric Levine on Thursday when he was confirmed to have a right knee injury.
He'll need surgery that will put him on the shelf for at least a month.
His net partner, Storm Phaneuf, may follow him. The Rivermen say Phaneuf might be placed on injured reserve Friday with what appears to be a hamstring injury.
Phaneuf and Levine were injured in back-to-back games last weekend at Carver Arena.
Matt Leon, you're up.
The Rivermen — with a roster shorthanded from injuries and six ECHL call-ups — were able to carry Leon as a third goaltender last week.
Now he might be their No. 1.
Peoria got some news that helped late Thursday night when it learned goaltender Tyler Parks will likely return from his ECHL call-up on Friday.
Right on cue comes the first three-game, three-night weekend of the season for the Rivermen.
"This will be a challenge, but every team faces these tests over a long season," Rivermen head coach Jean-Guy Trudel said. "We'd like to have all our guys available, sure. But we can't control that. We can control how we play the game, how hard we play, and that's what we'll focus on."
The Rivermen host Evansville on Friday at Carver Arena, then head down to Huntsville for a Saturday game and close out the weekend, and the year, with a New Year's Eve rematch at Evansville.
