Muslim women celebrate passing of Triple Talaq Bill with crackers, sweets

After the Bill making triple talaq illegal with up to three years in jail for the husband has taken another step with the Lok Sabha passing it, Muslim women in Moradabad celebrated the decision by hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The women celebrated the occasion by exchanging sweets, bursting crackers and raising slogans hailing PM Modi. They stated that they support PM Modi’s decision and the jail term for the person practicing triple talaq should be extended to 9 years. The bill was passed with most of the leading parties in the Opposition, including the Congress party, voting in favour of the bill, but with caveats. It was passed after the House rejected a string of amendments moved by various Opposition members.
