The Sambalpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) authorities on Thursday terminated an agreement with the security agency, G5S, in the wake of a guard appointed by it allegedly raping a 3-year-old girl in the hospital premises on Tuesday night. He was arrested later.
Sambalpur CDMO KK Gupta informed this. However, he said the security guards of the agency would be deployed till new security staffs are appointed. Meanwhile, Health Minister Pratap Jena, taking the happening seriously said, “If I am asked to comment on the incident not as a Minister, I would say the accused should be shot dead. We have terminated the outsourcing security agency.”
He said the Government warns all outsourcing agencies that they would be held responsible for any of the staffs appointed by them commit such mistakes at workplace.
Notably, the arrested security guard, identified as Sujit Rana (22), had allegedly lured the girl to go with him while she was present near her ailing mother at the hospital. The family members knew only when the girl narrated the incident to them. The victim’s parents then lodged a complaint at the Sambalpur Town police station.
Rana was arrested after examination of CCTV footage of the hospital which showed a record of the girl going with him.
