MARGAO: State Congress president Shantaram Naik on Thursday told people to be cautious about the new Financial Resolution and Deposits Insurance (FRDI) bill that is now pending before a standing committee in the parliament.
Speaking at the foundation day celebration of the Congress party at a function held in the party's South Goa district office in Margao, Naik said that the FRDI bill was "even deadlier than the demonetization exercise and the GST."

"You need to be alert to the dangers of this bill as the government is going to commit nothing less than dacoity on the bank accounts of the common man," Naik said.

AICC secretary Girish Chodankar exhorted party workers to take on forces of "divisiveness, deceit and falsehood" with renewed vigour.

Leader of opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar, former chief minister Ravi Naik, former South Goa MP Fransisco Sardinha, M K Shaikh and others also spoke at the function.

Senior Congress workers - Baptist Pereira from Ponda, Piedade Fernandes from Sanguem, Damodar Borkar from Margao, Antancio Carvalho and Magna Colaco from Cortalim and Agostinho Carvalho from Canaguinim, Quepem, were felicitated on the occasion.
