Ujjain: ODF survey underway; mayor inspects various localities

Ujjain: Under the open defecation free (ODF), a survey was conducted on Wednesday afternoon as well as Thursday morning. Officers of Ujjain Municipal Corporation welcomed the survey team and took them to the clean places of the city. Instead of this, the team found dirt at many places which was cleaned up. The ODF survey team was divided into six members each in different areas. One team was assisted by assistant commissioner Subodh Jain while the other by deputy commissioner Sunil Shah and third by assistant revenue officer Pawan Lodhe.
The team had no idea of the city so the officers took them to the points which were clean. Though, a school toilet was found dirty and some places of old Budhwariya were also found dirty. Team also investigated about a dozen toilets. Members of the team asked people of Somwariya about spraying of insecticides on the roads and in toilets to which they replied that it was been done from about two-three days.
A video of the people were also made by the members and were forwarded to high court. The ODF numbering will be done on these videos and photos. The team reached Gowardhan Sagar near Nikas Chouraha on Thursday morning. Open defecation behind tea stalls in this area was reported. The team clicked photos of this area and uploaded them. Team roamed about in the city on Thursday. This team will provide open defecation certificate next month.
