KP ranting his way into the New Year

2017-12-29 08:33

Cape Town - Another day, another controversial Twitter rant from Kevin Pietersen

The South African-born former England star batsman has been bashing away on social media this festive period, having suggested earlier this week that there would be no pride in England winning the fourth Ashes Test against Australia having already lost the five-Test series, 3-0.

England put themselves in a commanding position in the ongoing fourth Boxing Day Test in Melbourne despite rain stopping play on Friday.

Opener Alastair Cook's majestic 244* will go down as one of the great Ashes knocks, but according to Pietersen there can be no pride in winning a Test after having lost the series already.

Pietersen, who has over 3.5 million Twitter followers, drew a significant social media response with former England batsman James Taylor one of many to call him out.

Then, just moments after Cook had reached his double ton on Thursday, Pietersen tweeted his frustration at Emirates Airlines for not having live television on a flight that he was on as he wanted to watch the Big Bash League.

The airline then lost KP's bag, leaving him "fuming".

Pietersen then finished with a twar with former England wicketkeeper/batsman Alec Stewart, suggesting Cook "could score 50000 runs this Test and it doesn’t matter! They’re just playing places!"

Always a controversial character, Pietersen was in hot water with South Africans in October when he tweeted a picture of pupils at Maritzburg College who were holding up signs supporting the EFF, saying they had no respect for a "once great school".
