The Rourkela police on Thursday arrested a 52-year-old man for allegedly raping a nine-year-old girl after luring her with chocolate four days back. While the victim’s father lodged a complaint on Wednesday evening, the police arrested the accused, Sushil Nayak, from his house at the RS Colony on Thursday morning.
On December 25, the girl, a native of Bondamunda area a Class IV student, was playing in front of her house. Susil went to her and offered a chocolate. As she agreed, Nayak took her to a secluded place and raped her. He then fled from the spot.
The victim narrated the matter to her mother while her father was away at a distant place. On her return, he lodged a complaint at the Bondamunda police station on Wednesday evening.
“After medical examinations conducted on the accused and the victim, we forwarded the man to court on Thursday under the POCSO Act,” said IIC Susanta Das.
