One of San Antonio's favorite burger joints, Chris Madrid's, is making progress on returning to business as usual after an October fire that forced it to close.
Richard Peacock, who had taken ownership of the restaurant 45 days before a blaze started in the attic, has kept the business' Facebook page updated with their recovery operation. On Wednesday, he shared another note to customers, summing up the renovation process of their 1900 Blanco Road location and the addition of a food truck.

The owner said the restaurant on wheels is working "perfectly" after a hiccup which caused the cheese melter to burn objects in its vicinity. The post goes on to say that some of its first taste-testers were the first responders who helped quell the fire that could have destroyed their brick and mortar establishment.
It's a Nana versus GiGi versus Nonnie showdown.
Media: DelishPeackock named the crew stationed at San Antonio Fire Department Station No. 4 specifically.
"[...] we were repeatedly told that the burgers taste just as if they came out of our regular kitchen," Peacock wrote in the post. "We had a great time - those men and women at the SAFD aren't just skilled at what they do, they're fun, caring people who are great to be around."
The truck also served The Children's Shelter, Peacock added.
As for the actual building, Peacock listed the recent renovations in a previous post, adding that the fire was deemed an accident.
"We WILL re-open — you can write that down," he said in his Nov. 3 post. "But, it is now very apparent that it will be late spring of 2018 at the earliest before we do."

The two posts also gave updates on the Chris Madrid's staff.
Peacock wrote that some employees are working at their sister business, Paloma Blanca, while others will staff the temporary location.
In his most-recent post, the owner said a staff Christmas breakfast was hosted and he realizes the worlds of his employees have been "up-ended" recently.
"First, on September 1st they were told that the restaurant's been sold to some guy they don't even know. 45 days later, our building catches on fire," he wrote. "And yet, with all the commotion, they've handled it exceedingly well. They've show remarkable patience and flexibility and enthusiasm, and have remained committed to the ideals that Chris instilled for all of those years. I guess it's no wonder since many were hired by him."
Chris Madrid's will announce a location for the food truck as soon as management feels they "can live up to Chris' standards of excellence," the post said.
