Two children from Mumbai injured in Saputara while riding tandem bicycle

SURAT: Two children from Mumbai slipped from a hill in Saputara and suffered serious injuries on Thursday. They have come to visit the hill station of Gujarat with family and were riding a tandem bicycle when it slipped from the sunset point. Fortunately they did not fell into the adjacent deep valley and were few feet away from the major tragedy.


A major negligence on part of the government authorities has come to the light in the incident and it is a matter of investigation that how the bicycles were allowed to be used and rented on a hill.


Yashraj Kanawala, 11, and Hemani Kanawala, 13, sustained injuries when they fell from the sunset point. They were riding a hired tandem bicycle and went close to the end point towards valley. Losing control over the bicycle they slipped on the slope. Yashraj suffered serious injuries on eyes, face, head, both hands and knees. It is feared that the boy may lose both eyes, sources informed. Hemani also suffered injuries on both hands and legs.


After the incident the children were shifted to a primary health centre and due to serious injuries they were later shifted to Nashik for further treatment. Police are yet to register a case and start investigation.
