Elon Musk Hinted a Tesla Pickup Truck Is Coming Very Soon

He promised it will have a "game changing" feature too.

How was your year? Probably not as good as Elon Musk's. The 46-year-old entrepreneur/inventor/investor/space pioneer clocked half a million preorders of the Tesla Model 3, launched a new company to dig tunnels beneath Earth's surface, and announced plans to build a Big F*cking Rocket that will (hopefully) get us on our way to colonizing and ultimately ruining Mars, too.

And with 2018 in his sights, Musk doesn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon. Musk took to Twitter to thank Tesla owners for believing in his vision and to crowdsource ideas for how the company could improve. When pressed to create an electric pickup truck, he remarked that we can expect to see one in the not-too-distant future:

It isn't the first time Musk has mentioned the Tesla pickup—this past April, he offered an 18- to 24-month window for the vehicle, and hinted at it again when Tesla unveiled a $150,000, 18-wheel, electric semi truck at its event in November. But his tweet is the most detailed update we've been given yet. As for the size, Musk indicated it would be comparable (if not larger) to Ford's beloved F-150:

The "game changing" feature is TBD, but even as a guy who tends to make some of his biggest announcements on Twitter, Musk tends to stick to his word. And let's face it, he has the track record to back it up.
