UNION CITY — In a bizarre turn of events, police are advising the public to be on the lookout for a man who has now gone missing twice within a 48-hour time period, the most recent instance occurring after his release from Alameda County jail Wednesday.

Eric Aiken, 35, was the subject of a missing person’s bulletin on Tuesday, and police announced Wednesday at noon that he’d been found. But by 11 p.m. Wednesday, Union City police put out a second missing person bulletin for Aiken, saying he’d disappeared again after leaving Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.
Police did not disclose why Aiken was briefly held in custody, but say he was released Wednesday afternoon.
In the first incident, police say Aiken got into an argument with an acquaintance and walked away from a home on the 3900 block of Smith Street in Union City between 2 and 3 a.m. Tuesday.
Aiken is considered at-risk. Authorities say he has has limited cognitive ability, difficulty with memory and clinical depression, and is not familiar with the Dublic area.
He is described as caucasian, 6 feet tall, 160 pounds, with short wavy dark brown hair, blue eyes and a beard. He was last seen wearing a dark grey zip up hoodie/jacket with paint on it, dark blue jeans and brown shoes.
Anyone with information about Aiken’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Union City Police Department at 510-471-1365.
