(MENAFN) In the Russian city of St Petersburg, a blast erupted at the supermarket Perekrestok Wednesday night injuring more than ten individuals.

The office of the city governor stated that an improvised explosive device (IED) has been set off leading one shopper to enter a critical condition.

Officials reported the incident to be under investigation and that it's treated as an attempted murder, even so, officials pointed out that all possibilities haven't been discarded.

The explosion has originated through a device with "striking" elements that its power is parallel to 200g (7oz) of TNT explosive, according to the investigative committee of Russia.
