Three-car crash near Revelstoke kills one, sends six to hospital

RCMP

Mounties in B.C. are investigating a deadly Wednesday morning multi-vehicle crash on the Trans-Canada Highway between Revelstoke and Sicamous.

A little before 11:30 a.m., a car with Manitoba licence plates was travelling westbound about 40 kilometres west of Revelstoke when it spun out into the oncoming lanes, striking an eastbound car from Alberta.

Continuing in the wrong direction, the car struck a second eastbound vehicle on the passenger side before coming to a rest.

Of the four people in the westbound car, one passenger was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver and remaining three occupants were transported to hospitals in Kamloops and Salmon Arm with serious injuries — two in critical condition.

B.C. Emergency Health Services says three ground ambulances and an air ambulance were sent to the scene.

Occupants of the other two cars sustained minor injuries.

The Trans-Canada Highway was closed in both directions for over four hours while crews cleaned up the crash and collision reconstruction teams investigated the scene.
