Celebrating weavers
The exhibition-cum-sale of exquisite silk handloom fabrics that enables an interface between weavers and consumers started on December 27. Silk Fab exhibition is an initiative of the office of Development Commissioner for Handlooms, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India through National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC) Limited to provide direct access to the handloom weavers to market their products to consumers in various cities of India.
The participants are from various State Government bodies, primary handloom weavers co-operative Societies and handloom agencies. 110 agencies belonging to 13 states are participating. The exhibition will be open to public from 11 am to 8 pm for fourteen days, till January 9.
Education excursion group meets the Director-General
School children from Lachung, Sikkim met R K Pachnanda, DG ITBP at Force headquarters. The 19 member excursion group comprised of 9 girls, 10 boys, and 2 teachers.
The 13 day tour from December 18 to 30 has been organised by 48th Battalion of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) under Civic Action Programme (CAP). The group visited to various historical places in the capital and a short trip to Agra.
On the occasion, Pachnanda congratulated the group and wished them a bright future while the children shared their experiences about the tour.
HL Arora takes over as Director of THDC
Harbans Lal Arora has assumed the charge of Director (Technical) of THDC India Limited on December 22. Prior to this, Arora was holding the charge of ED (OMS, QA & Safety) in Corporate office, Rishikesh.
Arora is a Civil Engineering graduate from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology. He has an illustrative career spanning nearly 36 years in the Power Sector.
He has keen interest in skill enhancement of employees, imparting knowledge and experiences associated with to power sector, hydro-power, river basin planning and disaster management.
