STRATFORD - Firefighters responded to a blaze Thursday afternoon at a commercial building on Main Street.

Dispatch reports said the fire was in the building that the Soap Box Laundromat. Stratford fire officials said the fire started in a dryer duct and eventually made its way to the roof.

“(The fire) required extensive truck work to expose all (of the) active fire,” Stratford fire officials said on Facebook.

Firefighters said the blaze was reported before 1 p.m. The fire was reported extinguished at 1:30 p.m.

Part of Main Street between Birdseye and Elm streets remained closed while firefighters fought the fire.

Milford firefighters responded to the area as well to assist.
