Tourism remains one of the chief components of the Kenyan economy. However, tourism’s performance has been, for a long time, adversely affected by international and home-grown terrorism and high political uncertainty due to cut-throat political competition.
Kenya is one of the countries with, perhaps, the most progressive constitutions, which guarantees the basic freedoms and has a bill of rights which is unmatched regionally and beyond. Hence, Kenya must put forward the message that it has a completely conducive environment for tourism. Political uncertainties have, in most cases, interfered with tourism peak seasons. However, such nightmares are avoidable.
Tourism thrives in a peaceful and tranquil environment, and it is still one of the most peaceful in the region. Along with diverse tourism products and warm and hospitable people, it has been the unique selling proposition.
