Three cops among four arrested for alleged involvement in robbery
IPOH: Police arrested three of their colleagues including a senior officer after they were suspected to be involved in a robbery at a house in Kampung Rapat here on Wednesday.
Also detained was an unemployed man.
All of them had been remanded until Jan 2, to facilitate investigation.
Ipoh City deputy police chief Supt Abdul Rani Alias said that six men in a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) arrived at the house and told the occupants that they were policemen around 2am.
"The men then climbed over the wall and robbed the occupants of the house of RM12,300. The intruders informed them that drugs were found in the house and they have pay them to allow the consingment to be released or, they will be taken to the police station for questioning," he told reporters here.
The owner of the house who was with his two children lodged a police report after the intruders left.
Abdul Rani said that on the same day, the police arrested a 35-year-old cop from Taman Klebang Mutiara, Chemor at Jalan Tun Sambanthan here around 12pm.
"Subsequently a 27-year-old personnel from Taman Wing Onn, a 43-year-old senior officer from Taman Ipoh and the unemployed aged 43 from Taman Impiana Adril Sdril were also picked up in the city centre, Bukit Merah and Sungai Senam respectively between 1pm and 3pm," he added .
The unemployed tested positive for methamphetamine.
Police also seized RM1,500 and the MPV which belonged to a man who is still at large.
Police are also looking for another suspect to assist in the investigations.
