The Triple talaq bill will be introduced in the Parliament today. The Bill was cleared by the Union Cabinet earlier this month. The bill will make instant triple talaq in any form illegal and void. It will also provide jail term up to three years for the husband.
External Affaris Minister Sushma Swaraj will make a statement on the Kulbhushan Jadhav issue in Lok Sabha today. Kulbhushan Jadhav, who was arrested in March, met his mother and wife on December 25. However, the Opposition criticised the way Jadhav’s family members were treated by the Pakistani authorities during the meeting.
A four-member Central team will be visiting the Ockhi affected Kanyakumari district today to review the situation and asses the damage. Tamil Nadu has sought a central relief package of Rs 9,300 crore. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited the affected district on December 19.
The three-day Visakha Utsav will begin from today. Visakha Utsav is Andhra Pradesh’s official tourism festival organised by the State Tourism Development Corporation. The carnival will have cultural programmes and activities on a 2-km stretch from Novotel junction to VUDA park.
