Urban Administration and Development Minister Amar Agrawal on Wednesday said that if the work on a construction project does not start in more than three years in an Urban Local Body (ULB), the approval for the same would be terminated.
The work on projects need to start as soon as tenders are floated, the Minister directed officials in his second day of review meeting of the work of Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) here.
He advised the ULB chiefs to have meeting with the CAs and devise ways of boosting revenue.
Agarwal said that the State Government had been providing funds for development of basic citizen services in local bodies and around Rs 2 crore to Rs 4 crore is still available with local bodies.
The tenders for all approved works must be floated by January 15 next year, he said.
The Minister expressed happiness that some of the City Panchayats were segregating dry and wet solid waste and making manure out of them.
Most City Panchayats have collected about 20 per cent of property tax so far, he said.
Meanwhile, it may be recalled that the State Government has included all the 168 Urban Local Bodies of Chhattisgarh under ‘Cleanliness Survey-2018’ as per the directives of Union Urban Development Ministry, officials informed.
Notably, the Ministry will provide a ‘Cleanliness Ranking’ to the ULBs across the country.
Dhamtari district of Chhattisgarh was ranked 12th in the country with a score of 87.4 out of 100 in Union Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation’s ‘Swachch Survekshan 2016-Gramin” (Cleanliness Survey 2016-Rural).
