One stepping into the SIIDCUL industrial area gets something to feast his eyes on aside from getting an opportunity to breathe some fresh, invigorating air. It is the lush green ambience the place is now endowed with, something that has come up thanks to the plantation drive launched by the industrialists as part of their collective social responsibility towards conserving environment. Nearly every Industrial unit has some green belt in or around the premises. “When the saplings would sprout into their fullness the place would turn into a green paradise,” said one associated with the plantation drive launched on Wednesday. The trees would absorb the pollutants while emitting oxygen, he adds. In all, 150 saplings of useful oxygen emitting trees were planted out of which 100 like Shisham, Amaltas, Amla, Jamun and Baheda were procured from nurseries while 50 were developed in-house.
Suresh Srivastav who is heading the human resource operation of the company he is working in said that the 570 plus manufacturing units operating in the industrial area are now engaged in creating a healthy environment for the workers. “We have developed some in-house varieties of Pipal and Gulmohar which have been planted on Wednesday,” he adds.
President of SIIDCUL Industrial Association Arun Saraswat said that things would not end with the plantation drive. “We would take care of the saplings, helping them grow into their full glory under the same CSR mission. Earlier, we planted 1600 trees in SIA Park covering nearly 15000 sq.m area. Many medicinal plants like Aloe Vera have been recently planted along the boundaries of the park,” he said.
Plantation of pollution eating plants which absorbed formaldehyde and other polluting gasses from the industries is also underway, informs Saraswat.
