City police have arrested four youths involved in the killing of 32-year-old AJSU supporter and Jugsalai resident, Niranjan Singh near Hotel Dayal International in Sakchi on December 19.
East Singhbhum SSP Anoop T Mathew said that main conspirator of the murder Niraj Dubey and shooter Rohit Kumar Singh (who was seen in the CCTV footage firing from close range on the victim) are still absconding but exuded confidence of nabbing them soon.
“Out of all involved we have arrested four accused in the murder and will soon arrest the main conspirator and the shooter in the case. Niraj Dubey, a resident of Bagbera used to run Tatanagar railway station parking contract in partnership with the deceased Niranjan Singh, a resident of Jugsalai between April to October 2017 and there were longstanding dispute between the two over money and regular alterations would take place between them. Niraj conspired with a gang of youths from Bagbera to murder Niranjan Singh,” said Anoop T. Mathew.
Four youths who have been arrested included Santosh Pandey (40), Aman Mishra (21), Gautam Kumar Singh (18), and Santosh Singh (36)—all residents of Bagbera. According to police sources, all the youths had been arrested in the last two days and confessed to have been involved in the crime. Police has also recovered the country-made pistol , two bikes, two mobiles and one car from the arrested youths.
Incidentally, in the CCTV footage of the murder Niranjan Singh was seen seated on his scooter and talking on his phone behind a shopping mall near Hotel Dayal International in Sakchi when a man shot from close range at Niranjan Singh and escaped on the bike.
The father of the victim, Rameshwar Singh had lodged an FIR at Sakchi police station against Niraj Dubey (Bagbera), Mohammed Arif Ali and Alamgir (both Mango) for killing his son. Jamshedpur city SP, Prabhat Kumar said that dispute over railway contract was real reason behind the dispute.
