MBABANE – Once again, the long Christmas weekend was not a merry one for eight families who lost their loved ones in different incidents.
Some of the eight people are reported to have died just a few days before they could celebrate Christmas Day while others saw only the morning of Christmas Day and died later.
The deaths were recorded in various parts of the country due to different circumstances.
Of these deaths, five were from road traffic accidents, three were murder related and one was a drowning incident.
During the Christmas weekend last year, 11 people were reported to have died from different incidents, meaning there were less deaths reported this year.
Manzini, which is known to be a notorious city, did not have any deaths that would form part of a police investigation reported over the long weekend.
It was only in Mbabane, Shiselweni, Siteki, Pigg’s Peak and Mankayane where such incidents were reported.
Out of these, eight of the deceased were males and one was female.
Bouncers
In one of the murder incidents, three bouncers from Yemfo Bar were arrested and charged with murder over the weekend after they allegedly assaulted a man with sjamboks and a water pipe.
Vuyani Dlamini (30) of Mthombe, Mduduzi Zwane (35) of Maloma and Sifiso Gutuza (32) of Eteni are said to have assaulted Bonginkhosi ‘Mkhomanisi’ Themba on Saturday.
