Market Now: Pharma stocks in good health; Divi's Lab, Sun Pharma surge 4%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index was trading 2 per cent up at 9,605 around 10:20 am (IST) on Wednesday, with shares of Divi's Laboratories (up 4.32 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (up 3.89 per cent) surging up to 4 per cent.
Shares of Sun Pharma rose after reports emerged that USFDA has accepted its application for the new drug used in treating eye disease.
Other pharma stocks such as Cipla (up 1.78 per cent), Cadila Healthcare (up 1.59 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals (up 1.33 per cent), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories (up 1.16 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma (up 0.85 per cent) and Piramal Enterprises (up 0.53 per cent) also rallied in Wednesday's trade.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 5 points up at 10,537, while BSE Sensex was 74 points up at 34,084.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 23 were trading in the green, while 27 were in the red.
Shares of Steel Authority of India (SAIL), Punjab National Bank, Sun Pharma, NHPC, State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, YES Bank, Ashok Leyland, Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, DLF and Tata Power were among the most traded stocks on the National Stock Exchange.
In the Nifty 50 index, Sun Pharma, Dr Reddy's Labs, Cipla, Hindustan Unilever, Lupin and Aurobindo Pharma were among the top gainers.
However, UltraTech Cement, Bosch, Indian Oil Corporation, Hindalco Industries, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation and ICICI Bank were among the top losers.
