3 held for attempted child marriage in Rajshahi

Rajshahi : Police have stopped the marriage of a class VII madrasa student and arrested three persons including the bridegroom at Chanduria in Tanore upazila.

Arrested groom Abdul Hannan Molla,24, and his younger brother Mohammad Hossain Molla,22, of Berabari village in Mohonpur upazila, and the bride's paternal uncle Mojahar Ali Shahin, 38, of Chanduria in Tanore, were sent to jail following a court order on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip, members of upazila administration and police visited the bride's house and stopped the marriage on Tuesday afternoon, said Tanore UNO Shawkat Ali.  

Police arrested the trio and took them to the police station.

A case was filed against them on Tuesday.
