Noida: A
barber in Noida's Sector 63 allegedly gave
poison to two children following a quarrel with his father on Sunday.
Police have detained Asif, the barber, but are yet to arrest him in the absence of a formal complaint. The children —
Ayan (4) and
Sameer (6) — have been admitted to the district child hospital and are said to be out of danger. Doctors said the two had been admitted with dizziness and frothing from the mouth.
The father of the two children, Shahabuddin, had earlier rebuked Asif for throwing a bottle of cream on the wall of his house.
"A few days earlier, he had thrown a bottle of cream on one of our walls, which damaged the curtains. I had rebuked him for that. Around 3:30pm on Sunday, he called my elder son on the pretext of giving him Rs 10 and offered him something to drink. My younger son saw that and informed me. I ignored him initially, but when Sameer started vomiting, I panicked and took him to the hospital. While I was on my way, my wife told me that Ayan, too, was feeling unwell and showing similar symptoms. He had been given a powder that was poisoned," Shahabuddin said.
"We have questioned Asif but will arrest him only when we receive a written complaint," said
Jitender Kumar, the Phase III SHO.
