One person was injured in a head-on, drunken driving crash in Lakewood Tuesday night, police said.

The crash occurred around 4:40 p.m. near Tanglewood Lane and West County Line Road.

Police were unable to provide details of how the crash occurred or who was involved. However, they said that one person sustained injuries that were not life-threatening.

Officials said more information about the person driving while intoxicated would be forthcoming.

Tuesday night's crash comes after a myriad of car wrecks that have been blighting the township -- many resulting in fatalities and serious injury. The series of crashes prompted Ocean County to announce plans earlier this month to ramp up traffic enforcement in the township.

On Christmas Day, a pedestrian was struck and killed in Lakewood at the intersection of Cedarbridge Avenue and Martin Luther King Drive, previous reports said.
