LAKELAND — A 59-year-old was found dead on Christmas night inside his home, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies found Russell L. Jackson in his home at 2422 E Peachtree St. east of downtown Lakeland about 7:30 p.m. Monday. Investigators ruled Jackson’s death a homicide.
Jackson had been arrested at least five times in Polk County since 2014, jail records show, most recently in October on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Detectives were looking for a dark green four-door station wagon which was captured on surveillance footage near Jackson’s home. They asked anyone with information about Jackson’s death or the station wagon to call the Sheriff’s Office at (863) 298-6200.
