Police are searching for two men in connection with a report of a shooting during a robbery on Christmas Eve at an Alabama Highway 69 South gas station.

Tuscaloosa police officers responded to the Chevron gas station in the 7800 block of Alabama Highway Highway 69 South on a welfare check at about 8:30 p.m. Dec. 24, according to information released Tuesday. The officers located a 33-year-old clerk inside who had been shot one time in the abdomen. The clerk was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center for treatment and is in stable condition, according to police.

The clerk reported he was working when two men armed with handguns came into the store and demanded money, according to police. The clerk reported he was shot by one of the men as he tried to comply with the demands.

The robbers fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

The robbery suspects wore masks and black clothing, police said.
